Happy New Year folks !

Happy New Year everyone! Hope the New Year will bring new plans, better life, work, more money and most of all, good health to you all. According to the Chinese calendar, this year 2009 is the year of the OX a.k.a. bull, buffalo (kerbau) hehehe...
I'll try to find out more about the year of OX, but I guess we have to work extra harder to achieve our goals..just like the OX working hard in the paddy field. Oh never mind whatever year it is, be it the year of the dog, pig, rooster or tiger...we've always been working hard to maintain our lifestyle and most of all to support our family well being and of course paying the bills, so what's new ya..nothing's new hehehe
This year, hubby and I hope more good things will come to us especially good health. Am proud of my hubby, the BIG efforts he made through his work all this time has been well paid off. Keep up the good work dear and hopefully you will get another promotions again this year ;-)
I can't think or list much here now..but I hope this New Year will bring lots of goodies to me, my family and to you too :-D
Happy New Year!!

Boys and girls grow diffrently..how true it is

Gender identity
Children begin to identify themselves as a boy or a girl as early as 18 months. But it's between the ages of 2 and 6 that they begin to identify with others of their sex and demonstrate play and other behaviors that are characteristic of that sex. Most social scientists agree that an interplay of nature and nurture determines how these gender roles play out.

Physical growth
Between the big growth stages of infancy and adolescence, boys and girls grow in height and weight at about the same slow-but-steady rate. There aren't notable differences between the sexes until late elementary school, when girls start to grow taller faster, although boys catch up and exceed them within a few years.

Motor skills
Boys' gross motor skills (running, jumping, balancing) tend to develop slightly faster, while girls' fine motor skills (holding a pencil, writing) improve first. Often girls show an interest in art (painting, coloring, crafts) before boys for this reason.

Boys are also more physically aggressive and impulsive, as revealed by studies of their brains. The pleasure center of the brain actually lights up more for boys when they take risks. That's not to say that girls aren't active and risk-taking, only that on average boys are more so.

Verbal skills
More boys than girls are late talkers, and boys use more limited vocabularies. Girls are better at reading nonverbal signs, like tone of voice and expression, which also makes them better communicators early on, as they can connect feelings and words faster.

This is something you can focus on when reading books with boys: Point out characters' emotions, so boys start to notice how others are feeling.

Toilet training
Girls are potty-trained earlier than boys on average, though it's unclear whether this is due to physical differences or differences in socialization. (Mom usually does the training and may be easier for a girl to identify with.) Fewer girls wet the bed, too.

What is better when it comes to earning money

Tomato Story

A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test. 'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start. The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'. 'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'
The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60.
The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday. Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.
5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in theUSHe started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email. The man replied,'I don't have an email.' The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!'
Moral of the story Moral 1 Internet is not the solution to your life.
Moral 2 If you don't have Internet, but work hard, you can be a millionaire.
Moral 3 If you received this message by email, you are closer to being an office boy/girl,
than a millionaire..........

Mummy's two little angels

LOVE FOR MY DAUGHTERS
My beautiful daughters, I was blessed with two of you...
You will never know how proud I am of all the things you do.
You came into my world, so tiny and so small...
And I was in awe at the wonder of it all.
Then you placed you little hand in mine..
There was no denying, my heart was yours 'til the end of time.
I have watched you both through out the years, laugh, cry and grow..
And it is difficult to know, that someday I will have to let you go.
I just can't imagine , a day of my life without you..
Because you're a part of me and my love for you is true.
So just remember, no matter how old you are or where you may be..
There's someone who needs you and loves you and that someone is me!

Raise Your Child Self-Esteem

  • Tell your child you love them at least once a day
  • Let your child know it's okay to make mistakes. Admit your own
  • Laugh at your child's jokes - even when you don't get them
  • Praise your child's efforts, without worrying about the results
  • Don't treat all of your children exactly alike. Each one has different needs
  • Don't let your child go to bed angry with you or thinking that you are angry with him
  • Let your child cry if he needs to. There's no need for him to take things like a grown-up. Remember, he's only a kid
  • Draw portraits of each other. Hang them in a special family art gallery.
  • Instead of asking your child how school was, try asking him to tell you three great things he did that day. You're sure to love the answers you receive.
  • Share a banana split and let your child pick the toppings :-)
  • Work together to build a really huge sand castle at the beach

Changing to better life style

With the price of fuel going up and up, and prices of goods to follow the same trend, we may have to look at how we can manage our expenses. There are many ways we can save costs and improve our life style.

1. Employers should take the lead to encourage cost savings. Encourage working from home – with the current internet technology; many types of work can be done at home. Allow employees to work from home one or two days each week, thus saving on travelling cost. Implement flexi-hours to allow employees to travel at non-peak hours. Smooth driving save fuel and cost. Accelerating and braking in heavy traffic waste fuel and brake pads as well as unproductive.

2. Government and city councils should ban heavy vehicles on all roads during peak hours. These vehicles block roads and cause heavy fuel consumption on other vehicles.

3. Cutting down on number of meals and quantity consumed. Many Malaysians (even children) are suffering from obesity problem due to over eating. Taking heavy meals is unhealthy and our digestive system has to work extra hard causing us to feel sleepy and unproductive at work. We are eating more than what we need to keep healthy.

4. Eat out less or bring home cooked lunch to work. You will definitely get better nutrition at lower cost. If you think that hawkers and restaurants are taking opportunity on price hike to increase their profits, this is the best way to boycott them. Instead of nasi kandar or fried koay teow, how about an apple or banana for lunch and drink lots of plain warm water?

5. Cut down on unhealthy entertainment, for example. smoking, drinking, visiting pubs, etc. Visits to high end cafés should also be kept at minimum.

6. Have pot luck gatherings with friends instead, and cherish genuine friendship at family homes.
7. Take up new cheap/free entertainment that the whole family can enjoy, such as walk in parks/stroll along beaches, cycling or even hiking. Enjoy good exercise with nature and create a totally new healthy life style. Your family can truly enjoy better relationship and appreciate each other.

8. Avoid the wasteful "kenduri culture". It is unfortunate that some of our friends and relatives like to have grand kenduri weddings or whatever celebrations to outdo one another, and then send invitations(saman) to others to collect angpows(sponsor) their wasteful extravagance. Make it known to everybody that you are not part of this obsolete culture – times have changed.

9. Say NO to house renovation and buying new cars/expensive household items if possible. If it can still work with minimum maintenance, there is not a good reason to replace. Otherwise, these items will definitely burn a big hole in your wallet.

10. Expect higher crime rates when people are getting desperate – so please take all necessary precautions to cut/avoid losses. Criminals are like wolves; they prefer easier and attractive preys. Openly displaying wealth is not advisable. Some ladies even carry sticks or walk in groups with fierce dogs to discourage criminals.

11. Take shorter & cheaper local holidays, only if you must have it. Avoid holidays or peak periods to get better bargain.

12. Lastly, do not spend beyond your means. Credit cards are very expensive credit facilities. They are meant for emergencies only; if you do not carry much hard cash in hand. They are not meant for mid or long term borrowings. The compounded monthly interest is very high. Always ensure that you have sufficient cash to pay-off your credit card expenses each month.

By taking the above measures, an average person should have an improved cash balance than even before the fuel price increase.
